Most people know oregano as the popular culinary seasoning. Few people know that it can be used on a daily basis not only because of its excellent cooking qualities. Thanks to the many healing properties, oregano from ancient times used in folk medicine.
The main active component of oregano are essential oils (about 3%), such as thymol, borneol and carvacrol that contribute to its excellent antimicrobial effect. In addition, the composition of oregano contains flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidants, helping protect cells from free radicals. Oregano also contains acids, sterols, vitamins A and C, as well as a number of useful trace elements. Compared with traditional forms (herbs, dried plants), in oregano oil, these active substances are present in concentrated form.
Therefore, oregano oil, along with a strong antimicrobial effect, also has strong antioxidant properties. In addition to internal use, it can be used for treatment of small wounds and bruises, insect bites, and in diluted form - to rinse the mouth and inhalation.
ATTENTION!
- oregano oil is primarily prophylactic. It can be used to treat diseases, such as an additional tool, only as directed by your doctor.
- do not use oregano oil during pregnancy and lactation.
- avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes (for external use).
Recommended dosage: 4 drops (about 0,17 ml) oregano oil on the spoon of water or fruit juice, 3 times a day.
External application: locally on the skin (eg fungal infection), 3 times a day. When you are burning or skin irritation occurs discontinue use.
