Nutraceuticals based on medicinal plants belong to the category of parapharmaceuticals - that is, non-pharmacological drugs. Parapharmaceuticals include organic acids, bioflavonoids, biogenic amines, oligosaccharides, etc. Parapharmaceuticals able to increase adaptive capacity of the organism in extreme conditions. With their help, we can solve some important problems in the light of the prevention and treatment of disease.
1. Body cleaning
The need of body cleaning follows from the fact, firstly, a very small use of coarse plant foods, which is a natural purifier of the intestinal tract; and secondly, chaotic eating of the majority of people, which leads to incomplete digestion of food. This leads to a gradual accumulation in the body of eliminate slags and toxins that impair the health. Toxins accumulate not only in the cavities of the body, such as the intestine, but also in internal organs, tissues, cells and intercellular gaps. Therefore, the body cleaning should be integrated, and the best way to do this is to use of appropriate herbal medicines.
2. Antioxidant protection
Antioxidant protection of the organism is the counteract the toxic effects of the environment and poor nutrition, it is directed against free oxygen radicals - the most terrible of cell poisons. Free radicals are formed due to oxidation processes and are a normal product of cellular metabolism, but their surplus, which occurs when an incomplete transformation of substances or toxic effect of external factors, not offset by the body and destroys the membrane and the nucleus of cells that leads to aging, cancers, such diseases as atherosclerosis and many other so-called "free radical diseases".
Antioxidant properties inherent in certain vitamins and trace elements, but the richest source of natural antioxidants are polyphenols, flavonoids, xanthones and other natural compounds that are included in various combinations in the composition of many plants.
3. Normalization of the enzymatic processes
Neither kind of metabolic processes in the body is not possible without the participation of enzymes. As catalysts of metabolic processes, enzymes provide a flow of such transformations, which would have been impossible without their participation, or would take place very slowly. Endocrine glands produce several enzymes necessary for digestion, but our metabolism is targeted also to obtain enzymes from food. However, most of the enzymes are destroyed during industrial processing and cooking food, and a pittance of this remains. This leads to high additional loads on the gland, mainly the pancreas.
A number of disease begins with a weakening of the function of the pancreas because of its very intensive work. Herbal preparations containing a number of enzymes necessary for an organism, can relieve the pancreas and to create conditions for its recovery.
4. Providing a set of amino acids
The main function of any living cell is the development of proteins. For making proteins requires energy and building materials that are amino acids. There are 10 amino acids, which are not capable of being produced in the body and must come from food. These amino acids are called essential. With limited use of plant foods, our body loses some of these amino acids, and this means that cells are unable to make complete proteins. Many plants contain a full set of essential amino acids, so the herbal drugs in many cases are able to better cope with the disease than medications, because they allow the body to restore its main biological functions.
The components of plants belonging to the parapharmaceuticals are reviewed in terms of the admissibility of their application in food industry, with the requirements of National Pharmacopoeia, foreign Pharmacopoeias, other regulatory documents. Parapharmaceutics daily dose should not exceed a single therapeutic dose, defined in the application of these substances as drugs, subject to receiving dietary supplements at least two times a day.
